Eastern White Pine Botanical Print — Woodland Studies No. 03

$18.00

The eastern white pine is Maine's tallest native tree — needles in fives, long and soft, cones slender and hanging. It dominated these forests for centuries before the timber trade. It still does, in the places left alone.

Drawn in the tradition of 19th century botanical illustration, Pinus strobus is documented here as it grows on our 60-acre woodland in Downeast Maine. Needle fascicle, individual needle, cone, and winter bud rendered in copper engraving style — precise, unhurried, rooted in a specific place.

Part of the Woodland Studies collection. Each specimen is rooted in a specific place, a specific season, a specific tree.
